As an athlete maintenance of your body and mind is extremely important. I mentioned above in Japanese I was a former athlete who played multiple sports in high school as well as football in college.

So, What does this have to do with your life now?

Well I believe the concepts and ideas taught and practiced in sports correlates directly with the business world. You can have the best athletes in the world ("on paper"), but if they're not on the same page success isn't a given. In the business world, you can the most talented individuals working in your company, but if they lack the "team spirit" mentality your business might do well but not grow as much as it should.

In our business, we work with people. Yes, we sell or lease real estate but the decisions that are being made are by people. My thing is if I can't take care of myself, how can I take care of people looking to buy, sell, or lease property.

The self confidence I had during my playing days were gone after a 2 year or so hiatus from regular exercise. Of course I still had confidence in my ability to do certain things but the level of confidence was far in between. Last summer, I got back into the gym working out and got back onto the basketball court to play pick up. Any person who has worked out or is currently working out knows that exercise creates additional energy. What I found out, which I didn't know before is after my workout is when I'm most creative.

I happened to stumble upon a TED talk by Wendy Suzuki, a Professor of Neuroscience and Psychology discussing the correlations between exercise and brain activity. Watching her TED talk gave me a なるほど ("naruhodo") moment.
The video is linked below.

So the theme of this post in summary is to take care of yourself, people know if you aren't. One way could be to "Treat your Self" like they said in Parks and Recs. The route I take is exercise. It doesn't have to be daily but definitely should be regularly.

Remember this is about you, so finding what fits you best is key.
