Q1.    I am currently unemployed. I’m looking for a job, but I don’t have a job. I don’t have any income to live on and I don’t have any savings. I don’t know what to do. Who should I talk to?

A 1.    If you live in a city, please contact the welfare section of the city hall. If you live in a town or village, please contact the welfare section of the prefectural promotion bureau or the prefectural promotion office.

Q2.  Can foreign citizens of the prefecture also receive welfare protection?

A2. If you are a foreign national and have a permanent visa such as a permanent resident visa or a Japanese spouse visa, you can receive welfare protection. Please consult with the municipal office of your place of residence listed on your Alien Registration Card.

Q3. How long does it take to start receiving welfare expenses?

A3.Even if you apply for welfare protection, you will not be able to receive the welfare expenses immediately. It may take up to 30 days.

Q4.How long can I receive the welfare expenses?

A4.If you no longer meet the requirements for receiving welfare expenses, your protection will be terminated.  For example, when you get a new job and income exceeds the protection cost.

Q5.Do I need to let go of my car to get welfare?

A5.Automobiles are also assets, so in principle you are required to dispose of them.

A6.Can I own an air conditioner and a mobile phone?

A6. Yes, but they don’t help you to keep them.
